She was born in Beaufort County on October 11, 1936 to the late Jatha and Lucy Grey Brinn. She was the beloved wife of Jack Arliss Mason whom she would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in October.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters: Angelia Brinn Shackelford and Sue Brinn Conway, and one brother-in-law: Jack Wallace.
She is survived by her husband Jack Mason, a son: Jack “Jay” Mason Jr. and wife Michelle; a daughter: Leigh Ann Clark; a sister: June Brinn Wallace; four grandsons: Ryan Scott Mason and wife Stephanie, Colby Perrion Mason, Alex Clark and wife Sarah, Tyler Clark; two nieces: Jenni Uzzell, Gina Hull; three great-nieces and one great-nephew, as well as a brother-in-law: Chip Shackelford.
She was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ for 76 years having served in the choir and Ladies Quartet. She was a member of the St. Clair’s Church of Christ Ladies Aid. She was a charter member of the Pam-Le-Ko Book Club. She was one of those people who firmly believed in the expression If it’s worth doing – it’s worth doing well.
She was filled with love – for her hobbies and for her family, and even for little things like cooking and cleaning. She found a particular joy in running the vacuum when Jack was watching the news. She was crafty, taking Santa Clauses that were made of large chunks of pecan wood and and would spend dozens of hours meticulously painting them; and they were glorious.
She could cook a mean pot of collards and loved keeping her grandchildren. She loved talking and socializing and spending time with friends and family. She loved her family and had a special relationship with each and every one of them.
