Billy Ray Williams, 72, was born to Raymond and Laura Williams, of Martin County, North Carolina, on December 24, 1947. He was a big man, with a big heart. When he got sick, we all knew he would fight until he couldn’t fight anymore. In the end he left this world peacefully at home on Friday night January 24, 2020. He was with his wife, Gloria Kay Waters Williams, and his youngest daughter, Billie Kay Williams when the Lord called him home.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Poplar Chapel Church of Christ officiated by Minister David K. Jones. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
Billy and Gloria had Kassie, Stacie, and Billie Kay. Sandy is his oldest daughter, from his first marriage. Sandy has his business sense, as well as the love and respect of her younger sisters, because he required, they stick together and love one another. Kassie has his mouth, Stacie has his negotiation skills, and Billie Kay takes care of everyone. Gloria cared for him until the very end. He had a very full life.
Billy did line work, worked at the local mill, and had his own tree service. If he told you to take down a tree, you should have listened to him. There were never any strangers in his life because he talked to everyone, endlessly, and with great joy. He loved to get together, with his brothers and sisters, especially at Christmas time. Nothing made him happier than a good meal, with plenty of people around. Without Billy, we will all have to do our best to be loud enough without him.
