Bobby James Cuthrell, “The Man, The Myth, The Legend,” passed away on December 8, 2023, in Craven County, NC. He was born on June 19, 1950, in Pamlico County, NC. Bobby lived a remarkable life filled with passion, love, and an unwavering spirit.

Throughout his life, Bobby worked as a drywaller, was a business owner, and Jack of all trades. However, his true calling came from his various interests and hobbies. Bobby loved to gamble for the best “Wheel and Deal.” He had a true appreciation for old cars and trucks. His love for country and gospel music was evident, and he honed his musical talents as a self-taught guitarist. He was an accomplished musician who could captivate any audience.

Being a father was Bobby’s greatest joy. He treasured his role as a father to many, including his foster children. He would tell anyone who would listen of the special place in his heart for his boys and joked that he even loved Sara.

Bobby’s generosity knew no bounds. He had a servant’s heart and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He embraced every opportunity to help others and gave everyone a chance, never judging or holding back his support. His kindness and selflessness were truly remarkable.

As a devoted member of his community, Bobby attended and actively participated in ministering to youth groups and nursing homes. He lived an honorable life, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. His family and extended family held a special place in his heart, and he made sure that they felt loved, valued, and accepted without any boundaries, stipulations, or conditions.

Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Darilyn Cuthrell, his sister Susie Rolison, and his children: Bobby Joe (Christina) Cuthrell, Eric James (Jennifer) Cuthrell, A.C. (Tesha) Cuthrell, Joshua Leon (Stacy) Murphy, Sara Cuthrell (Peyton Adams), Amerie Ward, Arnold Glenn Jr. (Shannon) Pyle, Brian Keith (Lisa) Pyle, and Heather Lynn Pyle. He also leaves behind seven granddaughters; Harley-Elizebeth, Alyssa, Olivia, Mollie, Emma, Eva, Amber; and ten grandsons; Shane, Hunter, Josh, Jr., Garrett, Brian, Jr., Austin, Griffin, Alex, Tommy, David; who were the apples of his eye.

Bobby’s life will be celebrated during a funeral service on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Christ Vision Church. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until the start of the service.

In the memories we hold dear, Bobby’s fatherly love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family will forever resonate. He will be remembered as a man who wore his heart on his sleeve and loved his family with all his might.
