Dalton Lee Baker, lovingly known as “Buddy” to all who knew him, passed away on December 11, 2023 at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC. He was born on March 29, 1950, in Washington, NC. At the time of his passing, Buddy was 73 years old.

Buddy was a hardworking individual who dedicated many years to the construction and welding industries. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were admired by all who witnessed his work. Outside of his professional life, Buddy possessed various passions and interests that brought him great joy.

Nature held a special place in Buddy’s heart, and he found solace in activities such as hunting and fishing. Time spent in his workshop creating provided him with a sense of fulfillment and relaxation. Buddy cherished his moments puttering around in the golf cart alongside his beloved dog, Angel. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing quality time with his grandson, Benjamin. Whether they were engaging in outdoor adventures or simply enjoying each other’s company, these moments held a special significance in Buddy’s life.

Buddy enjoyed preparing delicious meals for his loved ones. Cookouts served as an act of service and provided joyful bonding with family and friends and anyone else in the proximity who had the pleasure to attend. In mentioning acts of service, we cannot forget his time spent serving the country with the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina, which eventually landed him across the world in the jungles of Vietnam during the war.

Buddy is survived by his brother, Johnnie Baker Jr., and three sisters: Elizabeth Dugas and husband Sid of Virginia, Janie Harris and husband Gary of Washington, NC, and Betsy Guthrie of Chocowinity, NC. He is also survived by his daughter, Ginger Baker, and grandson, Benjamin Baker.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Baker and Ruby (Edwards) Baker, as well as his sister, Susan Wall. Their love and memories will forever hold a special place in Buddy’s family’s hearts.

While we mourn the loss of Buddy, we also celebrate the wonderful memories and moments we shared with him throughout his life. His kindness, love, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

May Dalton “Buddy” Baker find eternal peace, knowing that his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
