Dewey Lendon Woolard
Dewey Lendon Woolard age 89, a resident of 3200 Lizzard Slip Road, Washington, NC died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at his home.
No services will be held per Mr. Woolard’s wishes. The family will receive friends at his home.
Dewey was born in Beaufort County on March 25, 1929 the son of the late Frazier Thomas Woolard and Gertrude Woolard. He married Zelda Alligood who survives on January 4, 1958 his wife of 60 years. Dewey served his country in the United States Army. He worked with Carolina Diaries in Washington for 20 years until his retirement. Dewey attended Beaver Dam Church of Christ. He had a love for life and people, Dewey enjoyed meeting at Bojangles in the morning with his friends where they would share their many stories and news of the day. Though all that knew him would say his greatest enjoyment were the trips he, his wife and friends would take to Dover, Delaware. Dewey will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.
Dewey is survived by his wife: Zelda A. Woolard of the home; a sister: Rhunell Boyd and husband Topper of Pinetown, NC; brother in law: Preston E. Alligood of Washington, NC; niece: Brooke Williamson and three nephews: Britt Alligood, Keith Boyd and Jerry Boyd. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: William Davis Woolard.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Beaver Dam Church of Christ c/o 5125 HWY 264 E. Washington, NC 27889.

    We always enjoyed watching Dewey and Zelda dancing the 'Boot-Scooti'n -Boogie' at the Hut on Fridays. We often saw Dewey and his friends enjoying sharing their life at Bojangles.
