Eleanor Frances Smith, age 84, of Pinetown, North Carolina, passed away on January 13, 2024. She was born on April 4, 1939, in Beaufort County, NC, to the late Warren C. Waters and Margaret Waters.

Eleanor had a diverse career, but spent many years as a security guard. Her dedication and strong work ethic were evident in all that she did. Outside of work, Eleanor found solace in her passion for gardening and flowers. She had a green thumb and took great joy in tending to her plants, creating a beautiful oasis in her backyard.

In the company of her loved ones, Eleanor cherished every moment spent together. She was a devoted wife to Vance David Smith and is survived by him. Eleanor also leaves behind her nephew, Larry Todd Smith, sister-in-law Linda Smith, brother-in-law Wade Smith, niece Lisa Barns, nephew Lance Smith, and her beloved dog, Sparky T.

Along with her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by her brother, Bud Waters, and her infant daughter, Lisa Smith.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Waters Family Cemetery in Pinetown, North Carolina. This service will be a time for family and friends to come together and pay their final respects to Eleanor.

During this difficult time, may we find comfort in the memories we shared with Eleanor. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, love, and green thumb.

The family would like give special thanks to any extended family or friends who lent and continue to lend, help and support during this trying time.
