Garland Mitchell Woolard, age 68, passed away in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on July 27, 2023.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 31 at 10:00am, at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service, with the funeral service following at 11:00am at the same location.

Garland was a Christian who loved the Lord; he was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father, and best friend and he loved his family with all of his heart. He was always a hard-working man who always took care of his loved ones. Garland loved to fish and work with his hands. He could build just about anything that he put his mind to, or if he could see it in his head, he could build it.

Garland leaves behind his mother: Audrey Woolard of Washington, NC, his wife Michelle Robert of Washington, NC; his greatly loved daughters: Karrie Collins, Tay Rene, Crystal and Julie Smith; his brothers: Woody Woolard and wife Sherry of Greenville, NC; Donnie Woolard of Washington, NC; and numerous grandchildren. Garland was preceded in death by his father: Jesse M Woolard; his daughter: Shana Smith, and a brother: Jesse Woolard.

Even though Garland is now at peace and in no pain, he leaves behind a hole in our hearts and souls that can never be filled. We all know that he is with God and with family and friends. Garland will forever watch over us, smiling with us during our lives. Until we meet again, we love you and miss you.

Garland will be missed by all that were fortunate enough to have known him. He served as secretary for Woodmen Life Insurance, Chapter 623 ,Washington for many years. Garland was more than the secretary, as you would find him many times at the lodge doing needed repairs. He was always willing to help others. We will miss his winning smile. Garland was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. He was a true representative for Woodmen Life Insurance, serving Chapter 623, Washington as the secretary. He was diligent in all of his duties. He was a proud member and was always doing something to better the lodge. All of the Woodmen members and his friends will miss his winning smile and his willingness to always help!! Prayers for the family!
