Grey “Bryan” Kornegay Jr., age 75, a resident of Washington, NC passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
Bryan was born on March 11, 1946 to the late Dr. Grey Bryan Kornegay Sr. and Dorothy (Reich) Kornegay. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Millikin University in Decatur Illinois and retired as a manager after 42 years of employment for Sears, Roebuck and Co in 2005 from their headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Il.
He lived with his wife in Pamlico Plantation in Washington, NC for 17 years where he served on the Board and Marina’s Committee. If you were to ask about his love and passion, it would be for collecting cars, especially Alfa Romeos. If you were to ask about who Bryan was, he was all about family and was preparing to celebrate 32 years of marriage to his loving wife.
Bryan is survived by his wife Cathee Kornegay of Washington, NC; two step-daughters: Camie Turner of Ypsilanti, MI and Calie Anderson of Algonquin, Il; two brothers: John Kornegay and wife Cheryl and Frank Kornegay and wife Janet; four grandchildren: Hunter and Hailey Turner of MI and Landon and Harrison Sylvia of IL; and his nephew Eric Kornegay and wife Meghan.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
