Hilma Cordon Elliott, age 96, a resident of Bath, passed away on Tuesday September 6, 2022 at her Residence.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Oakdale Cemetery in Washington officiated by Brian Oliver and Craig Hagen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service in Washington.

Hilma was born in Bath, NC on August 3, 1926 to the late Will and Olive Cordon. She attended the Bath schools and graduated in 1942. During World War II, she worked for the War Department in Washington, D.C. She married the late G.D. Elliott, Jr. on January 19, 1947. She served as Secretary of Bath School from 1961 – 1970 and was a long time member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ.

Hilma is survived by two daughters; Teresa Bohrer (Tom), Ilene McClain (Pat), son: George Elliott, III (Peggy), eight grandchildren: George Elliott, IV (Cassandra), Mark Elliott, Olivia Burns, Amanda George (Casey), Andrea McGee (James), Benjamin Bohrer, Hannah Oliver (Brian), Hope Ceres (Bob),16 great-grandchildren all of Bath, brother-in-law Myron Elliott (Elizabeth) of Belhaven and sister-in-law Betty Elliott of Bath.

    So sorry to hear about Hilma. I knew her as a neighbor growing up but did not get to know her as a person until I worked at Ridgewood and she was taking care of her uncle who was a resident. I enjoyed being in her company and always looked forward to the visits she made to her uncle as she stopped by office on her visits. So sorry for your loss.
