James “Jimmy” Cox age 72 a resident of 12 Tranquility Lane, Blounts Creek, NC died Friday, January 10, 2020 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital following an extended illness..
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2020 at Gorham Swamp Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity, NC officiated by Pastor Jerry Smith.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gorham Swamp Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
He was born in Washington on January 4, 1948 the son of the late James Hubert Cox and Virginia Gray Adams Cox. Jimmy was a heavy equipment mechanic at Gregory Poole Company in Washington, NC until his retirement after 35 years of service.
Jimmy is survived by his wife: Susan Galloway Cox of the home, step-daughter: Crystal Kite Marriner and husband Randal of Washington, NC; step-son: Daniel Casey Kite of Clarks, NC and eight grandchildren: Erin Cox, James Cox, Ayden Cox, Makayla Kite, Lucas Kite, Kelvie Hart, Nathaniel Kite and Jonah Kite. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife: Dora Susan Gurley and a son: James Nicolas Cox who died in 2018.

    I was Jimmy's boss and friend for many years, he worked long and hard days in the worst conditions to make sure his customers were took care of. They just don't make many like Jimmy, I sure will miss Jimmy.
