James Thomas Potter
August 11, 1959 – December 09, 2017
James “Jimmy” Thomas Potter, 58, took his last breath and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 09, 2017.
The celebration of his life will be held at Washington Assembly of God, 2029 West 5th Street, Washington, NC on Thursday December 14 at 7:00 pm. The family visitation will be from 6:00 pm until the funeral hour. They are receiving friends at 312 Circle Street, Washington, NC.
Jimmy was born in Beaufort County on August 11, 1959 to the late Owen Eugene Potter and Annie Bell Henries Potter. Jimmy attended Washington High School and proceeded his education at Beaufort Community College, Edgecombe Community College, and Davidson County Community College. He took an early retirement from the City of Washington as a First-Class Lineman after 23 years.
Many knew of Jimmy as the bass player for different bands throughout the years and for his love of music. He always stayed busy doing mechanics, landscaping, electronical work, metal detecting, a remote-control enthusiast, working with his tractors, riding the Kubota with his dog “Marley,” and traveling with his wife and family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving family; his devoted wife of 37 years Lucinda “Cindy” Windley Potter, a son Jason Thomas Potter, a daughter Bridgette Koonce Story and her husband Jerry. Jimmy has 4 grandchildren; Kayla Luke, Gavin Story, Jaxson Potter, and Jordan Potter. He also leaves behind three nephews Clint Asby, Michael Windley, and Jeffrey Potter, and a niece Coley Asby.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother Robert Owen Potter, his sister Deloris Gene Potter, and his beloved grandmother Lillian Smith Henries.
Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made to the Jaycee Burn Center, UNC Hospital, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7600.

Half Pint, Bridget, and Jason what a devoted wife and family you have been. I remember the days of old at the Golden Coral and how you took care of him as you continued to work with us. May God provide His grace and comfort and only He can do and know your friends are praying for you.
