Johnny “Pete” May, 69 of Washington passed away at his home on surrounded by family on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Winds of Change Church, Bath, NC.
He was born in Pitt County on April 27, 1952 to the late Lloyd and Lula May at Greenville, NC. He was the owner of May’s Glass Service of Grifton and Washington. Pete as he was known by his friends would help anyone he could and love his family and enjoyed visiting with people. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and more than anything he loved to work and being in his shop. He was in the eyes of his family their hero.
Johnny is survived by Arlene May his wife of 47 years; a son: Steven May of Washington, NC; one daughter: Brandy Ginn and husband Lawrence of Washington, NC; three brothers: Lloyd James May, Jr. and wife Johanna, Leslie D. May and wife Angie and Donnie May and wife Tammy, six sisters: Margaret Roberts and husband Billy, Janice Williams and husband Buddy, Carolyn Laughinghouse, Mary Scott and Diane Buck and sister in-law, Glenda May, seven loving grandchildren: Tyler May, Brooke Jefferson, Steven May, Christina Ginn, Ethan Ginn and Brittany Ginn; 11 beautiful great- grandchildren, and blessed with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Along with his parents he was preceded death by two brothers Ronnie May and Michael May, three brother in-laws: Bobby Laughinghouse, Danny Buck and Carlton Scott, Sr.
