Joseph Alpheus Lewis age 87, a resident of 1624 Highland Drive Washington, NC and formerly of Kelly Road in Bath, NC died Friday, May 31, 2019 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at St. Clair’s Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagen. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at the church. Burial will follow in the St. Clair’s Church Cemetery
Mr. Lewis was born in Beaufort County on November 28, 1931 the son of the late James Clyde Lewis and Patsy McGowan Lewis.
He is survived by a nephew: Hilton Lewis and wife Shari of Greenville, NC; a niece: Shirley Lewis of Greenville, NC; eight great neices and nephews: Hilton Lewis, Jr., Brian Keith Lewis, Faith Evans Christopher Daniel Johnson, Bobbie Jo Hopkins, Joshua David Johnson, Allen Shane Lewis, Kelly Singleton and thirteen great- great nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Clyde Hilton Lewis and two nieces: Sherry Lynette Lewis and Sharon Avis Lewis.
