Joseph Edward Baker, Jr. age 64, a resident of Farmville, NC passed away on Friday January 22, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

He was born on October 24, 1956 to Joseph Baker and Evelyn (Wells).

Joseph owned and operated his own diesel engine repair shop for many years. Through his business he gained many customers and business associates that quickly became extended family.

One thing you could count on was for Joe to be late due to his love for helping people, a good conversation, or a good meal with good company.

Joe liked to travel down old country backroads. His family would joke with him about his ability to give you directions to places based on restaurants along the way.

Joseph’s love for his family could be seen on his face at all times. From driving his grandchildren around on his Tractor “Poppy John”, to the mountain and ocean vacations with this family, and most simple things as enjoying ice cream sandwiches and cupcakes with them.

Joseph is survived by his loving spouse Lucy Baker; daughter Penny Leggett of Washington; three sons, Joseph (Little Joe) E. Baker III of Washington, Jacob Baker of Farmville, Jason Baker of Farmville; step-son William J. Williams III of Raleigh; three grandsons, Seth Leggett, Aiden Williams, Colt Williams; two granddaughters, Savannah Leggett, Emma Baker; two brothers, Leland Baker of Farmville, James Baker of GA; and sister, Marie Herring of Farmville.

He was preceded in death by Father, Joseph E Baker, Sr., Brother, Dennis R Baker, and Nephew, Robbie Herring.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
