Joseph Wayne Wester

Joseph Wester, 71, a resident of Plymouth, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at his home after a record-setting, decade-long battle with colorectal cancer.

A private family memorial service will be held at later date.

Joseph was born to the late William and Dovie Wester on November 14, 1950, in Florida.

He was a fighter, strong of mind and body and sheer force of will. He fought cancer with the same tenacity that he fought with in Vietnam, and the courage and determination that proved his mettle among the elites as a U.S. Navy Seal.

Despite the steely exterior forged by years in the military, Joe would melt like warm taffy around his small Pekingese Millie; his “baby”. He was bright and warm and loved holiday gatherings with friends and family. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife. He was an outdoorsman, and could often be found making something from wood, or fishing. If the weather was against him, he would spend his days watching bad Sci-fi movies. He also loved playing games on his computer and he was not shy when it came to cooking either; he knew his way around a kitchen.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife Donna Wester; two daughters: Christie Hartley and Brook Coleman, a stepdaughter: Skylar Hamilton; two stepsons: Kevin Crockett and Brian Crockett, one great-grandson, countless other grandchildren, and last but not least his beloved dog Millie.

To say that Joe’s more than 10 year long battle with cancer was difficult on him and his family physically, emotionally, and financially is an understatement of epic proportions. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to assist them through this difficult time. Donations may be made by CLICKING HERE

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to be assisting the Wester family.
