Larrie Stokes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 24, 2023, at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1945, in Pitt County. Larrie lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished for years to come. He was 78 years old at the time of his passing.

Larrie dedicated many years of his life as a telecommunications technician, showcasing his skills and expertise in the field. Outside of work, Larrie had a deep passion for various interests. He enjoyed deer hunting, proudly supporting Trump, and had an unyielding love for America. His family always held a special place in his heart, especially his grandchildren who brought him immense joy and happiness. Larrie cherished his wife Patricia, as she was the love of his life.

Larrie was known for his strong personality and zest for life. He was a member of the Hunting Club and was often described as being cantankerous, but it was all part of what made him who he was. To satisfy his sweet tooth, he often indulged in his favorite treats, honey buns, and a cold Pepsi.

Larrie was also a proud member of the NRA, aligning himself with their values and principles. Additionally, he faced a courageous 20-year battle with cancer, and even in the face of adversity, he remained determined and went out on his own terms.

Larrie is preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Stokes, his sister, Lena May Walls, his mother, Cora Lee (Harris) Stokes, and his father, Hicks Ardell Stokes. He leaves behind a loving and supportive family, including his son, Larry Stokes, his daughters, Beth Hodges (Leslie) and Tammy Bennett (Sean), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His brothers and sisters, C.A. Stokes, Jackie Noriega (Mike), Rachel Dixon, Fran Simpson (Bennie), and cousin, Bertie Tingle, will miss him dearly.

A memorial service celebrating Larrie’s life will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at the Sweet Home Church of Christ in Bear Grass, NC. Following the service, a committal ceremony will take place at 2 P.M. at the Oakdale Cemetery.

You are going to be missed so much. Growing up I saw you as a rebel with a good cause always always in trouble with something but your personality. No one could stay mad at you. You were a charmer, a sweetheart, a caring, caring, loving man whenever we need help, you were always there for us no matter what You were just a little devil with angel wings . You had a comedian way about you. No one could to stay mad at you for long. I'm gonna miss your humor very very much and the advice that you've given me do the times that we were together. I still remember your words and actually and have lived by them. I miss you so much my dear cousin Larry it really hurts. God just know that you're in my heart and my prayers all the time and you and Pat I know are together on the other side you guys are soulmates and I miss you both and I love you both dearly. I remember you driving up on your Harley and your Corvette. Those were two toys that you were so so proud of, and I remember you smiling and laughing from ear to ear with them.
