Sister Lorraine Thomas was the daughter of Mr. Otis Goldsmith and Sister Bernice Wright, and niece of Sister Dorothy Atkinson. She was born in Chicago, IL, September 7, 1925. In 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, John Thomas and only his death in 1985 separated them. To this union were born seven miracle children. She served her Lord and her church there as choir member, Jr. Church worker, nursery worker, and in the sick and shut-in ministry. After the church moved to 106th and Emerald Ave and later to 105th and Halsted, she worked in Jr. Church, Vacation Bible School, Day Camp, and on the Usher Board under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. E. Raymond Chin.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, four brothers, Claude, Otis, Frank Odean, and Vernon Goldsmith, three sisters, Brenda Arnold, Alice Goldsmith Cobb, and Janice Marie Goldsmith, a precious granddaughter, Crystal Harsley-Black, and a daughter of the heart, Velma Robinson.

She leaves behind four sons, John Jr., Craig, Victor (Erica) and Anthony (Donnie), three daughters, Bonita, Lenora, and Jacqueline Thomas, 24 grand-children, 30 great grands, Tiara, Kiana, Tirharqah, Dymond Thomas, Tianna Peoples, Bryanna Walker, and Tyshawn Stadeker (Nana’s main man) and 23 other great grands, two great great grand-children, a God-daughter Felicia (Lenard) Johnson, two brothers, Bishop Jeffery (Evangelist Regina) and Kenneth Goldsmith, three sisters, Ruth Anne Benford, Carol Jean Goldsmith, and Bertha Chivis (Wendell), nieces Alecia Cobb McCarty, Sharon Garrett, Karon Cobb, Stephanie Reed, Terry Ellison Hart, Felicia (Michael) Price, and special niece, Patricia Murphy, and nephews Thomas and Dewayne Cobb, Earl McCullough, Lav Thomas, Steve Ellison, and many other nieces and nephews, and special friends, Edith Evans, Sarah Schroko, and Sylvia Hiple, and her beloved church family at Covenant Faith Church of God, her beloved church family at Open Door Church in Winterville, NC, and her precious beloved and loving Community Bible Study Sisters in Greenville, NC.
