Ma’Lanie Rae’Lynn Blount, aged 14 months, gained her angel wings on January 30, 2022.

Ma’Lanie was born in Durham, NC. She was a resident of Farmville, NC.

She is survived by her mother Brianna Jones and partner Kayla, father Dishon Blount, her Mimi and Pa Jessica and BJ Holland, Pawpaw Raven Jones, Grammy Brittnay Lipford, several great-Grandparents, a great-great Grandmother, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and her amazing medical team at Duke University Hospital.

Lala -as her friends and family called her- fought a long, arduous battle,and was known as “Princess Warrior Lala” to many. She spent most of her short life in the hospital. She was on the heart transplant list for 204 days and was an inpatient at Duke Hospital’s pediatric cardiac ICU for 274 days before her battle ended peacefully.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Ma’Lanie’s Mission for the last year.

The family will host a candlelight vigil on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 6:00pm at the gazebo on the waterfront in Washington, NC. A visitation will be held 2:00 – 4:00pm on Sunday, February 6, 2022 with a celebration of life immediately following at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service.

The family will receive friends at the Holland residence immediately following the service at 327 Windley Road in Washington, NC.
