Marvin Wells Eubanks age 92, a resident of Washington NC died at his home on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Five Points Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Pastor David Young.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Marvin was born in Jones County on August 20, 1926 the son of the late Leonard Eubanks and Annie Daugherty Eubanks. He was a member of Five Points Free Will Baptist Church and had a great love for his church family. Marvin served his country in the United States Army in Germany where he met his wife Gisela. They returned to the states and settled in New Bern, NC where he joined the North Carolina National Guard. After a brief stay in New Bern Marvin and Gisela moved to Washington, NC where he served as Shop Chief and Mess Sergeant. Marvin retired in 1986 using his mechanical skills to aid him in his lifetime hobby of repairing boat motors. When he had spare time he enjoyed fishing and if you were lucky you had a chance to enjoy what many called one of the best meals they ever ate as he loved cooking and was known for being one of the best cooks around.
Mr. Marvin is survived by a daughter: Rosie E. Douglas and husband Keith of Washington, NC; two sons Marvin L. Eubanks and wife Denise of Washington, NC; and Ted Eubanks and wife Roberta, six grandchildren: Jonathan Eubanks, Stuart Eubanks, Megan Douglas, Tyler Douglas, Alexandra Eubanks, Sophie Eubanks and eight great-grandchildren: Levi Eubanks, Luke Eubanks, Morgan Eubanks, MacKenzie Douglas, SaraBeth Woolard, Kyra Toppin, Koen Toppin and Eli Douglas. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years Gisela Villwock Eubanks, four sisters, a brother and great granddaughter: Rylen Eubanks.

    Marvin Sr willed be missed by many. I always enjoyed talking with him. He seemed to always have a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He will always be a great man to me, someone to respect. He loved his dear wife and was always by her side until the end. RIP Marvin. I know you are home.

    When I first came to Washington in 1982 to work at the NG Armory, Marvin was one of the first persons i met. He became a good friend and one that always gave me good advice. He was a great cook and gave me my first taste of Rouladens and fish stew with eggs. Thru his efforts and hard work in the mess hall he brought alot of state and national recognition to the National Guard. I was proud to have been his Company Commander during that time. In the past few years I always saw Marvin either at Food Lion or Statestone Grocery on fridays eating fish. He always seemed to me to be happy and enjoying life.
    I will never forget Marvin, his advice to a young lieutenant, and his friendship. My deepest condolences to his family. A special man will surely be missed..............
