Matthew John Robey, 21, of Edenton, North Carolina passed away on May 18, 2023 at Washington Regional Medical Center in the presence of his family.

Matthew was born on September 5, 2001 to Robert and Alyson (Zachman) Robey in Louisville, KY.

He is preceded in death by a grandmother: Corinne Robey; and both grandfathers: William (Bill) Morrow Zachman and Richard Robey. He is survived by his brother: Brian; four sisters: Anna, Sarah Beth, Mary Kate, Ashley; a grandmother: Katherine Raynor Zachman; four nieces: Caroline, Mackenzie, Analiese, Ava; a nephew: Westley, a brother-in-law: Christian; and special friends: Alex Martin, Devyn and Keelan Warren.

A private memorial service will be held at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service.

For those who knew Matthew, knew he was a gentle giant. A tender hearted soul who loved his family so much. It was likely to see him with a fishing pole in one hand and a cooking spatula in the other. Music was a huge part of his life. His red, electric guitar was his most prized possession. He will always be held dear to our hearts.

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to be assisting the Robey family.

I worked with Matt for almost 2 years and he was the kindest person I have ever met. He stood up for others, respected everyone, and put a smile on peoples’ faces every day. He was hard working and loved everyone around him, and he loved to crack jokes and talk about the things he’s passionate about. My thoughts and prayers are with the Robey family. Rest in peace Matt. We love you🤍
