Maxine Wilhelm Jenkins, age 91, of Williamston, North Carolina was called home to be with her lord and savior on November 14, 2022. Maxine was born July 13, 1931, in Rayville, Louisiana to the late Mary Evelyn and Roland Lee Matheny.

Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, friend. Maxine was adventurous, courageous, outgoing, and always inviting. Maxine never met a stranger, and never passed up the opportunity to brighten someone’s day simply by asking “how are you doing”. Maxine was blessed to live her life daily doing what she loved and treasured most, spending time with her family, fishing in Florida, shuffleboard, playing any card game especially Rook, visiting with friends, traveling, and shopping for antiques. Maxine was a devoted member of West End Baptist Church where she loved to spend a joyous amount of her time in worship and fellowship. Maxine had an unapologetic appreciation to live life in the moment and to its fullest with no regrets and that is exactly what she did until the good lord called her home.

Preceded in death by her mother, Mary Evelyn Matheny, her seven brothers, Preston Matheny, William Matheny, Wilfred Matheny, Bob Matheny, Clarence Matheny, Curtis Matheny, and Wyley DeLoach. Survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Charles Jenkins (Williamston, NC) Her sisters: Peggy Savignol(Denham Springs, LA) and Jeanette Mathes (Denham Springs, LA), Her Children: Caroline (Allen) Wilson (Gaffney, SC) Debbie Fleckenstein (Williamston, NC) Steven Wilhelm (Williamston, NC); Grandchildren: Megan Harris (Gaffney, SC) Lindsey (Will) Walden (Myrtle Beach, SC) Tyler Wilson (Amanda) Palm Coast, FL, Amy Moore (Williamston, NC) Stephanie Wilhelm (Williamston, NC); Great Granddaughter Kenzly Marie Wilson (Palm Coast, FL).
