Melvin Blake, age 83, a resident of Belhaven passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Vidant-Beaufort Hospital.
Born to the late Herman and Betty (Cox) Blake on September 22, 1938, Melvin worked as a self-employed painter for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping and spending time with his granddaughter.
Melvin leaves behind his wife, Peggy Waters Blake of the home; daughter Michael Lynn Everett of Washington, granddaughter, MaKayla Lynn Jones; two sisters, Dorothy Foster of Washington, and Rose Davis (David) of Belhaven; three brothers, Muriel Moore, Jr. of Washington, Joe Moore of Roanoke Rapids NC, and Robert Moore (Faith) of Chocowinity.
A funeral will be held at 3p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at the Alligood Church of God with Gary Bateman officiating. Burial will follow at the Waters family cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at the Alligood Church of God.
Mr. Blake had overcome many medical milestones in the past few weeks and his unexpected passing has devastated the family and left them with many medical bills. In lieu of flowers contributions to the family are greatly appreciated and may be made by clicking the link below.
