Phyllis Jeanette Boyd, 76, a resident of Washington, NC passed away at her home on Monday, April 24, 2023.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Boyd Family Church and Cemetery with the Funeral immediately following at the Family home on Wildin Rd.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Carmer and Bonnie Boyd. She is survived by her husband James Russell Boyd; two sons: Todd Boyd and wife Amanda of Pinetown, NC, Douglas Boyd and wife Tammy of Pinetown, NC; a brother: Phillip Boyd and wife Valerie; a sister: Sylvia Timmons; three grandsons: Justin Douglas Boyd and wife Regan, Garrett Lynn Boyd, Dawson Todd Boyd; two granddaughters: Sarabeth Boyd Cahoon and husband Cameron, Meredith Boyd Bishop and husband Reg; and a great grandson: Layton James Boyd.
Phyllis served as an Administrative Assistant to the Chief District Court Judge of the Second Judicial District of North Carolina until her retirement after 35 years of service. She enjoyed traveling with her husband of nearly 60 years. Oftentimes you could find them on a weekend getaway at Cherokee testing her luck on penny slots and eating at her favorite restaurant, Ruth’s Chris. When she wasn’t traveling, she was at home taking care of her family.
Her favorite way to say I love you was through food; she knew it was a universal love-language that could bridge the generational gap and bring everyone together. Whether it was a birthday or some other occasion, she did not hesitate to whip up someone’s favorite meal in celebration. She was passionate, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She also adored Bath Creek, her favorite place to be, where she made many memories in the warm summer months.
She was a good Mama – she was a warm and caring woman who valued family above all else.
