Randy Eugene Smith, affectionately known as Cowboy, passed away on January 24, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC. He was born on October 23, 1958, in Beaufort, NC. Randy was 65 years old at the time of his passing.

Dedicated to his work and family, Randy began his career driving tractor trailers at the young age of 18. He had a special fondness for driving International Cabover and TransStar II trucks. Alongside his beloved wife Sue (Grandma Chicken) , Randy was lovingly referred to as Grand-daddy chicken by their grandchildren.

In his free time, Randy enjoyed building a vast collection of diecast trucks. He found joy in working outside and tending to the garden with Sue. A hearty steak and potato dinner was always a favorite, although he also relished seafood. And it was a rare sight to see Randy without a Mt Dew in his hand.

Family meant the world to Randy, and he cherished spending time with his children. He and Sue shared many wonderful trips together, including a visit to the Bahamas and celebrating their anniversary at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Emerald Isle.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Sue Keel Smith; his mother, Joyce Ann (Everson) O’Neal; his daughter, Stephanie Dawn Smith; his son, James Robert “Robbie” Smith; his daughter, Randi Michelle Smith; his daughter, Billie Sue Short; his daughter, Paula Watson; his daughter, Katie Smith; his sister, Kim Dixon; his brother, Danny Smith; his step-sister, Donna Cabe; his step-sister, Linda Lee; his step-brother, Randall Morgan; his granddaughter, Jasmine Smith; his granddaughter, Hailey Smith; his granddaughter, Taylor Grant; his granddaughter, Kaley Smith; his granddaughter, Alexis Flynn; his granddaughter, Abigal Sawyer; his grandson, Noah Sawyer; his granddaughter, Raegan Sawyer; his granddaughter, McKenzi Short; and his grandson, Nathan Short, and beloved pet Izzie.
