Randy Levi Ballance, 65, a resident of Washington, NC, passed away at his home on Friday, February 10, 2023.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.

He was born in Beaufort County on September 8, 1957 to the late Doris Alligood and Elton Ballance. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Diane Ipock. He is survived by two brothers: Thomas and Rudy Ballance; and a sister: Kimberly Prescott.

Randy was a dreamer and a free spirit. In his early twenties he headed west to Hollywood with stars in his eyes and big dreams of becoming an actor, but that dream was met headlong with another dream -painting- and water colors and oils took priority. He produced hundreds of paintings, many of which were given freely to friends and family. He left California for the snowy artist community of Taos, New Mexico where he continued painting and acted as director of accounts for Best Western, from which he later retired. He moved back home to NC just last year to be with his sister Diane, who passed after battling ALS.

Randy had an artist’s soul and passion, and spent his life living that passion. He was a good friend and the light he put out into the world, now gone, will leave every room just a little bit more dim.

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to serve the Ballance family.
