Ronnie Harrison Wynne, was born November 16, 1950 in Martin County. Ronnie always loved sports. He played football, baseball and basketball as long as he could hold a ball! He graduated from Williamston High School in 1969 as a Williamston Green Wave and went on to play semi professional baseball for the Oakland As. When he returned to Martin County, he played softball and was a referee for multiple sports.
Ronnie worked in law enforcement his entire career. He began with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, and retired from University Health Systems Police Department in Greenville, NC.
The most important part of Ronnie’s life was his family, and it was evident in everything he did. He was a husband, a father, a brother in law, and a Boom Boom. He is survived by his wife, Maggie and his daughters: Maria Yost (husband, Gregg Yost) of Washington, NC and Beth Terlep (husband, Matt Terlep) of Hilo, Hawaii. He has 6 grandchildren, who called him Boom Boom: Kanani Terlep, Cody Stalls, Seth Stalls, Jacob Yost, Kekoa Terlep, and Kawika Terlep.
The family will celebrate his final “at bat” at one of his favorite places! Join us at 10:00am Friday August 30, Barnes Field at Skewarkee Park. We will celebrate his life with the many stories of Ronnie Wynne!
in lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Williamston Youth Baseball c/o Steve Barnes 200 N. Edgewood Avenue, Williamston, NC 27892.

    Richard Wilson says:
I taught science and coached girls basketball at WHS, 1968-69. Since I was there this one school year, I will tell only one story about Ronnie Wynne. We had away varsity basketball games on Friday. We returned home late Friday night. I had a girls JV team to play Hertford on Saturday morning. We needed a referee. Who do I call? Ronnie of course. "Ronnie, can you come referee our basketball game this morning?" Ronnie said, "I really feel bad. I think I have the flu." I said, "I'm sorry you're sick. I'm afraid we'll have to cancel the game." Ronnie said, "I'll be right there!" So even though I haven't hear Ronnie Wynne say "I'll be right there!" for fifty years, you have. God blessed you with Ronnie all these years. Thanks be to God!

I would like to offer belated condolences to the family. I played baseball with Ronnie in high school and also had the pleasure of working with him while I was working with a local newspaper and he was a detective. Ronnie was an inspiration on the diamond and did a lot to encourage both me and others throughout life.
His efforts as a teammate will be remembered and his friendship and encouragement in life sorely missed.

Meeting Boom Boom at Beth's wedding was a joy. Who knew this athlete could dance a swing. I think he was teaching me a West Coast Swing. I know He is dancing in heaven when he's not playing ball. You will be missed here on earth though we have hope that we will see you again in a better place. All our ALOHA to the family.

Even though I have been gone from Williamston about 45 yrs, I will never forget the success of The Williamston Green Wave sports programs during the the time Ronnie was a player. I was a childhood friend raised in the same neighborhood and cherished our relationship. He loved competing ,excelled in sports, and was always willing to put the work ethic necessary, and I always felt that he would excel in whatever he chose to do. He was a team player and one that would never back down from difficult or new challenges. Williamston was very fortunate and blessed to have had an athlete and person like Ronnie. May God Bless the family and may they cherish the memories!
