Ronny “Kirk” Cordon, Jr., age 44, a resident of Pinetown, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Lower Cape Fear Life Center in Wilmington, NC with Karen by his side holding his hand.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pinetown Church of Christ, conducted by Phillip Paul. A meal will be provided in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Kirk was born on December 21, 1979 to the late Ronny Kirk Cordon, Sr. and Karen Kay Clark Cordon who still survives.
Kirk leaves behind Karen Lee Wallace, the love of his life and faithful, longtime friend and companion for 28 years, who he always referred to as his wife.
Kirk worked with his dad as a commercial fisherman from a very early age and later with George Linton for about 20 years putting down piers and bulkheads, mostly in the Bath, NC area. George passed away suddenly in 2021, after which Kirk’s declining health prevented him from working steady.
Kirk was preceded in death by his beloved, younger brother, Mark Anthony Cordon on June 23, 2018. This left Kirk with a lingering sadness in his heart! Also, they have a loving sister, Teresa Stanley, who resides in Florida and who stays in touch.
Kirk was a quiet, gentle soul who enjoyed the simple things in life that money can’t buy: calmness, peace, kindness, love and respect. He played football in high school and his favorite NFL team was the Carolina Panthers. He also enjoyed listening to various kinds of music. He loved animals from a child and was always gentle and kind to all of them. In his last few years, he cherished his little, black min-pin dog, “Mia”. She loved Kirk and misses him a lot! He also gave lots of attention to his 2 beautiful, latest stray cats in the yard and barn, “Tigger” and “Sunshine”.
Kirk will be missed by many. He loved and respected Karen Wallace’s family, namely, her parents, the late Elgin Wallace and Jeanette, who still survives. He always considered Karen’s late sister, Julie, like a sister. Also, in his life was Karen’s brother, Mark, his wife, Mandy, and their 2 children, Cade and Aubrey, who he thought very well of.
Kirk comes from a large family; 5 uncles on his dad’s side and 5 aunts on his mother’s side. He grew up surrounded by many cousins who he loved and cherished.
