Ronny Kirk Cordon, Sr., age 65, a resident of River Trace Nursing Home in Washington, NC passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 after a long illness.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pinetown Church of Christ, conducted by Philip Paul. Family and friends are welcome. A meal will be provided for all, in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Ronny was born on December 21, 1956 to the late Thad and Martha Kirk Cordon in Belhaven, NC. Ronny was a commercial fisherman most of his adult life. He loved being near the water and was very skilled in operating boats as he performed his work. He was a certified U.S. Merchant Marine Officer as a Master of Steam or Motor vessels which he obtained on September 27, 2005. He worked a few years in this capacity, after which he became disabled to continue. Ronny was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family very much.
Ronny’s memory will be cherished by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen Kay Clark Cordon. Also, surviving is a son, Ronny Kirk Cordon, Jr. (Karen). Ronny was preceded in death on June 23, 2018, by his younger son, Mark Anthony Cordon. Also surviving is Karen Cordon’s daughter and sister to Kirk and Mark, Teresa Stanley.
Ronny has 5 brothers: Larry Cordon (Terry), Thad (Sonny) Cordon, (Linda), and Jimmy Cordon (Mendy). He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Timmy Cordon and Tracy Cordon (Jan).
Ronny has many nephews and nieces from his brothers’ families.
Ronny’s family is quite large and unique in that he has 5 brothers and his wife, Karen, has 5 sisters. They are: Diane, Betsy, Darlene, Barbara, and Lea. Ronny was preceded in death by 2 of his sisters-in-laws: Diane and Betsy. They thought of Ronny as a brother and he treated them as his sisters. There are many nephews and nieces from this side of the family also. Ronny loved them all.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pinetown Church of Christ.
