Stephen “Steve” Brian Jackson age 50, a resident of 105 Pheasant Drive, Washington died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Steve was born in Beaufort County on November 18,1969. He spent most of his teenage and adult life in the Piedmont area of North Carolina and prior to moving back to his hometown of Washington, NC in 2019, he resided in Julian , NC. Steve was a Motor-coach Operator for Holiday Tours of Randleman, NC since 2003 until his retirement due to failing health. He loved traveling the country and transporting people on their vacations as well as school groups, college sports teams, and military band groups. Most notably, he provided shuttle services during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, LA as well as for the 2010 Vancouver, Canada Winter Olympics. He was a highly requested driver by many of his long-time and favorite groups. Steve was also an extremely knowledgeable guide of the Washington, DC area; he knew all of the areas to avoid the high traffic, where and where not to park, and the best restaurants.
He was an avid UNC Tarheel fan, and counted transporting his beloved Tarheels as one of his favorite shuttle tasks. He collected UNC memorabilia, NASCAR scale model cars and considered himself a “foodie”. He had favorite restaurants all over the United States and Canada.
Steve is survived by his mother: Sandra Boyd Jackson of Washington, NC; father: Larry Gene Jackson and stepmother: Judith of Eden, NC; sister: Wanda Jackson Walker of Bath, NC; niece: Ariel Leighann Walker, of Bath, NC; his special aunt and uncle: Frank and Virginia Boyd, of Abbeville, SC; and cousin: Kim Boyd Deal of Taylor’s, SC. He also leaves behind his special feline buddy, “Ollie”.
Memorials are appreciated and may be designated in his name to the Humane Society of Beaufort County.
