Wilber Gene Alligood

Wilber Gene Alligood, 78, a resident of Washington NC, passed away on January 15, 2022 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

He was born on February 10, 1943 to the late Leon and Nellie Alligood. He worked as a salesman at Sears-Roebuck for a decade before going to work for himself in the 1970’s. He was self-employed for over forty years doing farm maintenance.

He was preceded in death by his father Leon Alligood, and his mother Nellie Alligood, and a brother-in-law: Mack Asby.

Wilber is survived by two sons: Major Alligood and partner Sheila of Washington, NC, Wayland Alligood and wife Paula of Washington; a brother: Gilbert Alligood and wife Jane of Concordia, Missouri; a sister: Argie Asby, NC; a grandson: Chad Alligood; and four granddaughters: Holly Alligood, Casey Alligood, Lauren Alligood, and Beth Rigsby and her husband Billy.

There are no services scheduled at this time.

    I knew Wilbur a long time. He was a good friend to my late husband Sam Singleton. They went to school together and in later years worked together on survey and construction projects. Thru Sam I became Wilbur’s friend. I have many happy and fun memories of Wilbur. He enjoyed people and fun times. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to his family and friends.
