William Asa “Bill” Cutler, a resident of Bath, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, March 11,2022 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Friday, March 11,2022 from 6-7 p.m. at Harvest Church 2020 W 15th St, Washington NC 27889 with a service to follow starting at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home at all others times, 474 Mill Field Rd Bath, NC 27808.
The following nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers; Harold Cutler Jr, Jason Sheppard, Scott Sheppard, Wil Cutler, Jeremy Woolard, and Michael Smiley.
Bill was born on December, 14th, 1944 to the late Audrey and Giles Hertford Cutler, Sr in Beaufort County, NC.
He was a 1963 Graduate of Bath High School.
Bill started his career at Newport News Shipyard in 1964 until he could get back to Beaufort County in 1966. On June 26,1966 Bill married the love of his life Patricia. After returning to Beaufort County he went to work for Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill as a welder on the #2 paper machine later advancing his career as the maintenance technical service planner, retiring in February 2000. Bill proudly served his country in The Army National Guard for 22 years ranking E7, serving in the The Gulf War: Mission Desert Storm. In the National Guard he honed his cooking skills.
He was happiest when cooking and entertaining for his friends and family at the Coyote Club.
Bill enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including coaching Babe Ruth league baseball, leading the team to a State Championship win in 1986. An avid New York Yankees fan that he shared the love for baseball along with his father. Along with cheering on the Duke Blue Devils Basketball team.
He was an avid outdoorsman hunting deer, duck, doves, raccoons, turkeys, and attending his once a year Kansas hunting trip. He was an advocate for introducing turkeys to Eastern, NC. Member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation serving many years assisting with banquets. A member of hunter’s helping kids. A member of Goose Creek, Jackson Swamp Hunting Club, and California Block Hunting Club. A member of Washington Mason and Masonic Lodge #675 as a past master.
His favorite things to do with his family was Sunday boat outings on Bath Creek. He was a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather to his family. His family will miss him dearly and cherish his memories and find peace in knowing his health has been restored in his heavenly home. Bill loved his friends and will be greatly missed by all. Bill was a faithful member of Bath Christian Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Audrey and father, Giles, a sister Delores Douglas Teachey, and a son in law, Larry Wilson Linton, Jr.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Woolard Cutler; his daughter Donna Cutler Arnold (Sandy); a son Eric L. Cutler; a granddaughter, Hayley Grace Arnold; a grandson, Trent Owen Linton; two brothers; Harold Wayne Cutler (Ruby) and Giles Hertford Cutler Jr (Linda); two sisters; Rita Eubanks and Mary Lou Sheppard-Mckissick (Earl) and many nieces and nephews.
