Roy is also survived by a cat, Fat Boy, who lived by the Pruitt Health Trent nursing home. Roy loved that cat like his own child! Fat Boy became his reason to get out of bed every day. Roy cared about little else but that cat, Fat Boy. I am the "cat lady" that started coming to the nursing home to spay/neuter the cats there and see to their vet needs. Roy didn't trust me at first and thought I was there to take "his" cat away. He soon came to realize that I loved the cats as much as he did and we became good friends. When I didn't hear from him I made some calls and discovered Roy had passed away. I am so sad, but mostly sad for Fat Boy, that cat who loved Roy so much. Most people don't realize how much loyalty and love cats feel. I wish I'd known Roy was in danger of death. I could have come and helped care for Fat Boy and perhaps found him a home. I can only hope Fat Boy is still there and being fed by the man who lives at the corner. Please, please, someone in Roy's family contact me! (252) 671-6553. I live in New Bern. I am part of Craven Community Cats and I am on the board of directors for an animal charity, Pals for Paws.
